Hank Williams Sr.

being raised in the deep south my father instilled in me
a DEEP appreciation for this man and his music, he was one
of my first musical influence.
I remember being a little boy and listening to the oldies
radio station with my dad every Saturday night after we'd
watch Saturday Night Live, it was these nights when i was
introduced to the old country styling of George "The possum"
Jones, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynne, Red Sevine, Tammy Wynette,
and so many more. It seems really trendy in music these days to
appreciate these kind of singers, and their music, (jenny lewis,
she & him...) but I've always cherished them and appreciated them
since i was a little boy, guess you can say i was raised on honky-tonk...
esp. in Montgomery Alabama where Hank is a hero, theres a museum for
him downtown, and local legend has it his ghost haunts the freeway
close to downtown...i remember when i was little my dad took me to
see his grave in Oakwood Cemetery and would tell me stories about him,
and I just thought he was the ultimate rock star...know what i mean?
anyway, give him a listen!
(You Win Again is probably one of the greatest songs ever written. period!)
